Mom's needle work.

My mother has a needle work on her wall that reads

"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow for babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs dust go to sleep, I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep."

My little guy is my last one as as I do thing with him I think this is it last time...

Playing peek a boo with a diaper as I change him.

Staying up at night while he is teething.

Holding him while I nurse.

Watching him discover his world as he learns to get around.

Taking him out of the bathroom, no playing in the potty allowed.

Oh what joy kids are. I love all of mine.

Did I do that?

On the way to take my Sweetie to school today I yelled at another driver. There are times when I think it but I don't say it. And the driver I yelled at was just being nice to someone else. I'm sorry, I feel really bad. I have a long drive to make today and I promise that I will not yell at any other drivers.

Do you yell at other drivers?

Banana Bread

Last week my 5 yr old asked if the bananas on the counter were good for Banana Bread?
I had just bought them so sadly the answer was no but for some strange reason they didn't all get eaten. Yesterday she asked again and I said that we could make it today. It turned out great and disappeared very quickly. Too bad bananas don't go bad more often around here.

New Game

We got a new game and the kids LOVE it. Well not the 3yr old but everyone else. I have always enjoyed playing the normal version, and recently found out that it came in Jr. version. I am very glad that many companies have Jr versions for great adult games. not only are they easier to play but take less time.

Wind Sun and Sand

Our recent vacation was mostly for a family reunion on my Hubby's side. All three boys, two wives, Grandpa and Grandma and 13 cousins. Can we say fun. Camping at the koa. We were the first ones to arrive and got to pick our spot first, not that it really mattered. We set up tents and waited around so that we could help everyone set up theirs.

Food Mack style
Each family was to cook dinner one night and their own breakfast and lunch. What really happened was everyone cooked the group dinner and shared it but also every other meal was eaten by who liked what was being made. Or it was all combined and we all ate. I think that everyone brought enough food to feed everyone by themselves. Needless to say we had plenty of food. But it was good.

Games
We love to play games, all kinds, some that we played were settlers, skipbo, boggle.
I was surprised with three boys age 8-9 and the words that they came up with. They didn't connect letters just used all the letters that they could, one game they all wrote down "cute". Not all the games were finished some were ended by bedtime or 1am... or the wind.

Sand
All Macks are fish. We had a great time at the beach, it was so nice to have a warm beach with great sand that went out forever shallow.

We buried kids up to their necks, made sand castles, and holes.

Wind
The wind at the beach was great for flying kites. I think that the little ones enjoyed this the most, there is something about holding that string while watching your kite up in the sky.

The wind also had its downfall too. Two nights it started to blow and blew for about and hour each time but it was strong. Just look at our dinning fly. It didn't come home with us. It did calm down and we were able to sleep in peace. It made it hard to have a campfire, at least it wasn't cold. but no smores.

Other actives
while at the beach we rented a skidoo. Everyone that went out had a blast on it even those that got a little more wet then they had planned. Miniature golf at the KOA was a nice treat and the pool the afternoon we didn't go to the beach. They also had a bounce bubble, think really big tramp. Blowing bubbles both little bottles and a huge big bubble wand that got some big bubbles, even by little ones. Water balloons were a hit once one cousin figured out how to blow them up.

We all enjoyed each other and just had fun.

How Things Work

I know a lot of people that have male and female jobs around the house. Well here is a different story. There is not a job that I won't do if I can do it and very few that I can't. If I can do it I do. I take out the trash, I don't think that my hubby even know when trash day is. I change light bulbs, cook, Hang pictures, clean bathrooms, take the car to get the oil changed, kiss boo boos, Do mounds and mounds of laundry every week, But I only put away mine and my sweeties the kids do their own. vacuum, sweep and mop , wash wall. Mow the lawn (when we have one), wash windows. You get the picture.

I have tried to teach this to my kids also and they do every thing that they are asked to do.

Is there any job that you won't do? how do you split up the work at your house?

Cake Balls

I saw these on a friends blog a few months ago and have been wanting a reason to make them. Tonight a friend is having a ladies night so...

These are super easy and yummy.

Cake Balls
1 cake mix and ingredients to make it
1 can frosting
dipping chocolates( I used 2 Wilton bags)

Bake cake, cool. crumble cake in mixing bowl add frosting and mix. Form into balls mine were just bigger then a quarter. Chill this hardens the frosting and they stay intact for dipping.

Melt chocolate and dip.

I used different chocolates so I used different sprinkles to tell them apart.

I had a little chocolate left over so I dipped some strawberries I had on hand, for my Sweetie.

First sewing project

I finally helped one of my girls sew. I know that I should have sooner, and maybe the next one will learn at a earlier age. Wow was I impressed She did great, straight lines and really controlled the machine well, not too fast and not too slow. Now we need to go get a pattern and have her sew it. I did the cutting out and the pinning but she did ALL of the sewing herself.

I think that she did great. Maybe PJ bottoms or a tiered skirt will be next.

Cold Day

I find that it is funny how different the two coasts are in the US. My sister lives almost straight east of me on the east cost and she just posted pictures of her family playing at the beach today and here I am cold on the west coast, it is overcast and threatening to rain. I even turned on the fireplace, and put on socks. Stay warm and have fun where ever you are.

Cooking Lessons

My girls love to cook and my oldest loves lasagna. Not to mention the comment made last week that I once Made lasagna. I decided that It was time for a cooking class, everyone should know how to make their favorite food right? So the last shopping trip I got the supplies:

Chunky spaghetti sauce, What's in there hides better in lasagna
Whole wheat lasagna noodles, I switched to whole wheat noodles about
18months ago. Only one kids commented but she eats them.
Ricotta cheese
Cheddar cheese, I buy it in bulk shredded from Costco

My 12 yr old did the rest with a little help from a 3yr old who couldn't be left out. She did a great job. We did do something new we never drained the noodles just took them straight out of the hot water and one less dish to wash. Plus they never stuck together.

Everyone enjoyed the meal as a family. What a great out come.

My kids know some of them by heart and after dinner tonight While cleaning up I heard this one.

And I thought getting ready was the work

Well after 2 1/2 weeks of vacation, it is nice to be home. But I thought it was a lot of work to pack. It is just as hard to unpack, This is what my kitchen and mud room looked like last night.

This is what the kitchen looks like now. If only I had the mud room done too.
